Re-energizing a start-up

Steelwedge Software, established in 2000, is a pioneer in the field of Integrated Business Planning. It is also the first company to transform its business to a complete software-as-a-service model. This emerging field has attracted a lot of new entrants to the industry and in the recent past, the competitive landscape has evolved significantly with several deep-pocket competitors. Pervinder Johar, who was running the Supply Chain Systems at Hewlett Packard, was one of Steelwedge’s largest customer and advocate. He was brought in as the CEO to navigate the company in the new market reality and had significant challenges ahead. In this talk he will outline his initial vision to overcome these challenges, reflect on the success he has achieved thus far and outline the way forward.

About Pervinder Johar:

A seasoned supply chain executive with extensive industry knowledge and operational expertise, Pervinder Johar joined Steelwedge from HP in November 2014, where he served as Vice President of Global Supply Chain Systems and was a Steelwedge customer. In this role, he was responsible for strategy and execution of worldwide supply chain management, manufacturing, product life cycle management, order-to-cash, and procure-to-pay business processes and IT systems for HP’s supply chain, one of the largest in the world. Pervinder previously held the position of Chief Technology Officer for Manhattan Associates, a leading provider of supply chain execution solutions, where he was responsible for global research, development, and quality assurance. He also held senior positions in strategy, marketing, technology and finance with large companies including CCC Information Services, State Street Bank, and Fidelity Investments. In addition, Pervinder served as Chief Technology Officer for two successful startup companies. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Villanova University, an MBA from Boston University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.
